Charleston, WV (PRWEB) September 23, 2009 — WV attorney Jeffrey T. Jones said in a statement this week that victims of accidents should be careful because it is likely that their insurance companies will try to give them a lowball figure in order to get them to settle out of court for less than the case is worth. He says that one of the main reasons why this nefarious practice is now becoming more common is due to the current recession which has the companies low on profits.

Instead of losing a significant amount of money, he stresses the importance of hiring a law firm such as his to handle their case for them. Even the high ranking insurance company Allstate has admitted that accident victims stand to earn a much higher settlement by hiring an attorney. “Getting a West Virginia personal injury attorney will help consumers get what they deserve, “said Jones.

Early on in his practice Jones made it his goal to provide special attention to each of his clients in order to resolve their cases to the best of his ability.

Erie, PA (PRWEB) June 19, 2008 — The Board of Directors for the Center for E-Business and Advanced IT (eBizITPA) today announced that they have hired Margrethe “Grethe” Lindemann as eBizITPA’s new Executive Director. Lindemann will relocate from Wheeling, West Virginia.

Susan Breon, current leader of eBizITPA, will be stepping down after leading the organization since its inception in 2002. Since then, eBizITPA has expanded from a technology initiative for northwestern Pennsylvania to a statewide organization that provides state-of-the-market technology training to thousands of workers, launched several major technology transfer initiatives, created and administered several successful grant programs and has become a leader for technology-based economic development in the Commonwealth.

Lindemann’s 25-year career spans a range of high-technology disciplines. She began her career as an engineer at NASA’s Langley Research Center, where her work focused on advanced instrumentation development. Later, she served in both development and executive capacities in several cutting-edge technology start-up companies on both U.S. coasts.

In addition, Lindemann has either founded or led several technology-based economic development initiatives that include: The Urban Technology Transfer Institute (UTTI) in Baltimore, MD; Aerosea Research Institute in San Francisco, CA; Technology-based Economic Development and e-Business at the National Technology Transfer Center (NTTC) in Wheeling, WV; and the Hopewell Fund in Wheeling, WV. She holds degrees in physics, biophysics and cognitive science, conducting her doctoral studies at Johns Hopkins University.

Lindemann characterizes her career as being one that has specialized in bringing forth and applying new technologies, with each step of the way reinforcing her perspective that creativity and flexibility are critical in research and development, financing, partnership building and programmatic support.

“Touching as it does on virtually all types of business and industries, the role of IT in business and economic development of the future cannot be overstated,” noted Lindemann.

According to Jeff Parnell, Managing Director of JHP Direct and Chairman of eBizITPA’s Board of Directors “Since the inception of eBizITPA, Susan has laid a foundation of excellence and has assembled an outstanding team. She is one or our region’s finest leaders and a tremendous asset to our community,” said. “With her departure, we’re excited that Grethe is joining the Center to expand our influence, new markets and new areas of excellence. We conducted an extensive search for this position and look forward to leveraging her unique business and technology background.”

The Center for eBusiness and Advanced Information Technology (eBizITPA), headquartered in Erie, Pa., is a statewide Ben Franklin Technology Development Authority Initiative, designed to help Pennsylvania enterprises understand and use information technology and e-business tools.

Warner Robins, GA (PRWEB) August 15, 2009 — “I have a free standing store, and the revenue is limited because I can’t reach potential customers who don’t live within ten or fifteen miles,” said Steven Franklin. “The best part about an online business is the unlimited revenue potential.”

Franklin is the founder of www.MakeMoneyWithFranklin.com, a new website which offers unique supplemental income opportunities for people at all levels of business and professional experience.

“When I started with the program, I had a good deal of experience as a business owner,” said Franklin. “I think the experience helped, but the effort I put into the program is what made it successful.”

While not all people have hours to spend tending to a business, Franklin is a firm believer that hard work translates to success. “I’ve experienced the success of this program first hand, and I haven’t found a better program to earn extra income, but it still requires hard work.”

With the addition of a new blog at www.WorldIncomeSystem.com, Franklin will share his experiences with others, and discuss the necessities for making his home business opportunity work.

“I think with the way the economy is right now, a lot of people are looking for a residual income, or even a full time job,” said Franklin. “This kind of online business is great because it can be done for a few hours per week or full time with great results.”

Franklin believes his program is different from other online business opportunities because it provides an immediate benefit to investors. “This program is built on the backbone of the Global Resorts Network, and investors receive the immediate benefit of discount travel packages,” said Franklin. “For people who plan to travel, this program is just amazing, with four and five star hotels starting as low as $297 a week.”

However, the residual benefit is what Franklin believes will lead others to tell their relatives, friends and even co-workers about the program. “The discount travel packages are great, but the real draw is the income potential that comes from people who invest in the program and create their own business offering it to others.”

MakeMoneyWithFranklin.com is owned an operated by Steven Franklin, independent business owner and financial entrepreneur.

Charleston, WV (PRWEB) March 10, 2009 — Today, West Virginians announced the formation of the new statewide civil rights organization committed to ensuring fair treatment for all gay and lesbian people in the state. Fairness West Virginia’s mission is to ensure gay people are treated safely and fairly in their homes, at work and in their communities.

“Discrimination in any form is unjust regardless of an individual’s real or perceived sexual orientation,” said Stephen Skinner, a member of Fairness West Virginia’s Board of Directors and an attorney.

The organization seeks to cooperate with both the public and private sector to enact policies that reflect West Virginia’s values and to send a signal to the rest of the nation–especially to corporate America–that we are open for business for everyone.

A dozen citizens–both gay and straight–from diverse backgrounds including a doctor, a university professor, businessmen and women, and lawyers, among others, are the volunteers behind the creation of the new organization. They are Democrats, Republicans, and Independents who believe fairness transcends partisan politics.

“Our immediate call to action is to achieve the membership goal of 1,000 West Virginians for Fairness in twenty days,” said board member Christopher Turman of Moorefield.

“We represent the diversity of Appalachia and our membership is open to everyone–gay and straight–who believes in fundamental fairness,” said board member Donald Hall, a distinguished professor at West Virginia University, adding “I encourage the public to visit the new gay rights organization (http://www.fairnesswv.org) to learn more and to become involved.”

About Fairness WV:

Fairness West Virginia, Inc. (FWV) is a nonprofit, 501(c)(4) membership organization open to individuals and organizations committed to equal and equitable rights for all Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender West Virginians. Through advocacy, education, and information, Fairness West Virginia seeks to build bridges of acceptance and understanding among families, neighbors, co-workers and employers across the state.

Thomas, WV (Vocus) November 2, 2009 — Artists interested in becoming a juried MountainMade artist have just two more weeks to submit applications and art samples for the final jury evaluation of the year.

MountainMade (http://www.mountainmade.com) supports West Virginia artists with marketing, sales, shipping and other business services. MountainMade operates a Gallery and Country Store, in Thomas. The group also retails artisan works at Stonewall Resort in Roanoke, West Virginia, and the MountainMade Foundation offers art education in its Thomas studios.

MountainMade admits West Virginia artists based on the jury process. The jury panel requires at least 3 completed works as part of the application process, and images of additional works can also be included. The jury panel evaluates the artists’ creative process, unique techniques or traditions, and experience, as well.

General manager Becky Henderson said becoming a member of the MountainMade artist family is a chance to reach a global audience. Henderson said the jury process improves the marketability of all MountainMade artists by ensuring the highest quality.

“We’re known for only selling the best,” she said. “Being on the new e-commerce platform and social media sites gives these West Virginia artists an opportunity to sell their creations to customers around the world.”

MountainMade typically conducts the jury process three times each year. The first jury opportunity in 2010 is tentatively scheduled for March. The application deadline for that jury session will be announced at a later date.

For more information on the application process, prospective artists can download an application at www.mountainmade.com, or call (304) 463-3355 option 1 to speak with a MountainMade representative. Information can also be found in the MountainMade Page on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Thomas-WV/MountainMade/143779517966?ref=ts).

(Vocus) April 5, 2010 — An underground mine explosion in Southern West Virginia has killed several miners and injured about two dozen. A large group of miners, perhaps as many as 20, are still believed to be underground and have not yet been accounted for. The blast happened Monday afternoon at Massey Energy’s Upper Big Branch mine, on the border of Raleigh and Boone County WV, in the heart of the Appalachian coalfields near the town of Whitesville. One miner who escaped the explosion said “the next thing you know, you’re in the middle of a tornado.”

Homer Hickam (http://www.homerhickam.com/) knows the area, and coal mining very well. The best-selling author of Rocket Boys about his boyhood in the Southern WV coalfields was made into the movie October Sky. Hickam is himself a former miner and has written several books set in and around WV coal mines including his most recent novel Red Helmet. Hickam grew up in the town of Coalwood WV (which is very close to Monday’s explosion) and follows the mining industry closely. He was asked to give the eulogy following the 2006 Sago mine disaster in his home state, and his Red Helmet foundation endows college scholarships for the children of coal miners.

Ask Homer for his perspective on:

* The safety of the modern day coal mining industry

* How heavily regulated the mining industry is today vs. in the past

* The kinds of people West Virginia coal miners and their families are

* Whether the mines apparent non-union status likely had any bearing on its safety, or rescue efforts

* The safety equipment generally in place in mines like this one

* What he’s hearing from those closest to the accident

Homer Hickam (http://www.homerhickam.com/) has appeared on all major TV, radio and print outlets for his expert commentary on both the mining and space industry.
